Battling Against Gravity And The Elements.

Skene Concrete Products Division has just completed one of their biggest (and most demanding!!) contracts to date with the final loads being delivered to Greenknowes Wind Farm, Glendevon.

 

Morrison Construction are battling with the elements to build 18 wind turbines, the towers are each 60m high and the site is 1300 ft. above sea level - the pictures give some idea of what the conditions have been like.

 

The turbines are impressive structures. The base of each turbine requires several hundred tonnes of steel for reinforcement and once this was in place, we needed to keep up a steady flow throughout the day supplying 240m³ from our plants at Crossgates and Leslie - That's 30 loads for each turbine!!
